Haboob Hits Phoenix Sky Harbor, Grounds Hundreds of Flights
A massive haboob rolled over Phoenix on Aug. 25, 2025, creating a wall of dust nearly 10,000 feet high. The storm forced more than 40 flights to divert, delayed 300+ departures and flooded Terminal 4. Power loss touched 52,000 residents while drivers battled near‑zero visibility. Crews repaired the airport overnight and operations resumed by Tuesday morning.
